The Spiritual Director of the ministry is Rev. Fr. Magnus Ebere (SDV), a Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Onitsha Anambra State. Based on the report of the miracles that are graciously taking place at E Dey Work Ministry, its other name could have been “Miracle Ground”, “Solution Centre”, “Healing Theatre”,“Wonderland”, and so and so forth. This is so because both visitors and members who spoke to this newspaper noted that Fr. E Dey Work, to them, was mightier than most established men of God compared to what those before him did in their early stage and what the Canaanland Adoration Ministry Spiritual Director is currently doing now.

Just in two about years since it came into being,  Canaanland Adoration Ministry or popularly known as  E-Dey Work Catholic Centre, by majority acclamation, is now a pilgrimage square as tens of thousands of worshippers both Catholics and non Catholics throng to the place seeking for one miracle or favour from God. Usually on Wednesdays, the adoration, as the programme is called normally draws huge congregation from worshippers from all the five states in the South East as well as neighbouring states from Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta. What is more, SUNRISE NIGERIA scooped that pilgrims from far distances usually arrive the ‘holy ground’ on Tuesday night so as to position themselves at vantage points where they will not be distracted the following day during ministration. They also do this to avoid arriving late for the programme as well as staying close to the altar.

Since Canaanland Adoration Ministry or E-Dey Work Catholic Centre became popular, several miracles are claimed to have been wrought though the Spiritual Director of the centre who is said to be a great man of God, a powerful miracle worker, a blessed prophet and a humble evangelist.  In the words of Mr. Mathew Dike who revealed that he was a regular attendant to the weekly Wednesday adoration activity, Fr. Magnus Ebere (SDV) is “a devoted Catholic priest who knows why God called to the priesthood. He discharges his duties as a true shepherd and leader of faith. Fr. E Dey Work has never proved to be what he is doing for financial rewards. He is out to save souls, liberate those are suffering from one form of attack or the other and then lead them to God”.  He described the Spiritual Director of the centre as “E-Dey Work Specialist” noting that he is a true man of God who is transforming lives through the Word of God, Holy Eucharist, Adoration and Holy Sacramental. Dike stated that since his first visit to the centre, he had witnessed positive changes in his life, family and business.




A lady devotee, Sister Joy Dikwachi, in her submission, informed this newspaper that never in her life has she witnessed live, such a massive crowd trooping to step their feet on a particular ministry ground for deliverance and solutions to life’s numerous problems. She said; “I was a kid when Fr. Ede otherwise known as Fr. Elele used to make waves. I never watched him life. I have also watched Pastors TB Joshua, Chris Oyakhilome, David Oyedepo, Enoch Adeboye, D.K. Olukoya and even Fr. Ejike Mbaka on television. I have never visited their churches or ministry ground. Before now, I think that Mbaka and TB Joshua are the greatest miracle workers in Nigeria but I think Fr E Dey Work is greater than them because none of them had this kind of ground as early as we witness here on weekly basis”.

What is so special is that the adoration which takes place every Wednesday attracts all manners of faithful – old and young, male and female, the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate, good and ugly – indeed all spheres of human beings. Miss Okwuchi Uwalaka, who according to her was first introduced to the centre by her cousin in September 2016, confirmed the power of the man of God as she proclaimed “E-Dey Work oooo!” In her testimony, she stated that the anointing oil of the centre popularly known as “E-Dey Work Oil, or Otumukpo ndi nso” (holy ointment) has really been of tremendous healing to her. She confessed that thousands of people have received deliverance, healing from all manner of sickness, and total restoration at the centre through the prophetic pronouncement of the man of God. She confirmed the potency of the sacramental from the centre. In his testimony, Owia Ekpe submitted as follows; “I have seen unprecedented miracles, signs and wonders taking place here at the ground. I have seen people receiving deliverance from all manners of ill-health, I am a witness, and I can tell you, there is none to be compared with Fr. E-Dey Work, he is simply a gift from God”.

Some of the items that are easily identified with worshippers of the ministry are an emblem with an inscription that reads “I belong to E Dey Work Catholic Ministry. God Is Working” which most members use as badges. There are also blessed oil, holy water and holy pictures which some members display in their homes, offices, business centres and cars. It was revealed that the name E Dey Work was given to the place in its early stage when an Hausa convert who visited the ground received miracles and came for testimonies and all he shouted was “E Dey Work; E Dey Work; E Dey Work”. Henceforth, the centre became known as E Dey Work.

Meanwhile, there are still those who believe that what is happening at the E Dey Work ground must be taken with a pinch of salt. Paul Ibekweanyi, an Owerri based lawyer declared thus; “I have been hearing of E Dey Work centre and the miracles the priest is doing or performing. I am a Catholic and so I should be proud and happy that we now have another priest like Mbaka here in Imo State. You are aware that people travel all the way from here to Enugu State to attend Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN) but with the arrival of the man at Ezinihitte Mbaise, no more  long journey. But my brother, you see, it is not today that we started hearing about all these miracles. From my Catholic angle, where is Fr. Ede? Are we still hearing about him? What of Bethel Ministry of Pastor Oduyemi? Did you not hear of Papa Idahosa’s Church of God Mission? What is the fate of that church today given the type of crowd it used to control? There was even Pastor Ngozi Awuzia’s Zoe Ministry World Wide? What I am saying is that we should still keep our fingers crossed. It is still early to judge. The way the man is going, if really he is of God, take it from me, he will be bigger than Mbaka, TB Joshua, Oyedepo and the others”.

It is the candid opinion of most respondents who were interviewed by SUNRISE NIGERIA that Fr. E Dey Work has performed astonishing and profound miracles like healing life threatening illnesses such as kidney failures, cancers, heart ailments, bareness, various degrees of demonic attacks, impotency, infertility, marriage failures and inability to marry, business and economic breakthroughs and many more.

Indeed, some pilgrims at the ground confirmed that they used to go far distances looking for solutions to their respective problems but will now settle at Mbaise enclave of the SDV priest.

The former archbishop of Lagos Archdiocese, now retired, Anthony Cardinal Okogie, in a newspaper interview said that Catholics should be very careful of miracle working pastors and priests as most of them are quarks and are only after money and material gain. He warned that the church is meant to provide spiritual direction to Christians, insisting that most economic, social and other problems troubling man were as a result of poor leadership rather spiritual issues as most preachers usually claim. He however indicated that he was not against miracle working pastors or priests, urging Christians to always probe the source of powers of such men of God.
